Eric's machine has the hiccups, so he asked me to forward this: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: Stargate When the Omnispace novel was written, Stargate hadn't been released, but there were similar ideas there. The concept was that evil Arcane, let by the super-evil Te'Ess-Arr, planned to get rid of all Spelljamming vessels in favor of a new planar travel system they've developed. The "Stargates" were planar links that could connect the different (seven) planets in the system, thereby eliminating the need for Spelljamming vessels. The gates were linked to The Bringer of Doom, an old artifact from AD&D that would basically destroy everything in sight, and open the gates to the planes, thrusting out millions of demons. Since the gates were all linked, each planet would face similar destruction. Oh, and before I forget, it also caused a planet to go spinning out of orbit, crashing into the system's sun, and creating a devastating wave of energy that would DESTROY THE ENTIRE SPHERE. [Made for a good chase scene, too - Mod] A bit of overkill on my part, but I couldn't resist. If you're interested in reading this or any of the other Spelljammer stories, they're available on the website. Eric F. Schetley Silent co-moderator of the Spelljammer listserver Author of the Omnispace story you've been talking about. +---------------------------------------------------------------------+ |Richard J.
