You have discussed SJ and Planescape but not what I asked in the first place.
Let's try this again then. And perhaps I won't miss it this time. Is there something in
the EAW&F book that indicates if an elemental priest is denied access to the etherial
plane, that his manditory change may be forgone.

Neither is there anything supportive of the argument. Unless of course you can answer my

Now where precisely do you get THAT information? While the body is healed of damage,
make no mistake, it is the same body. The priest's body and it's elemental form are one
in the same.

They also quote the following phrases:

"Since there is no gradual change between the two forms, it is not termed a
metamorphosis, but rather a transformation."

"A character elemental _MUST_ (my emphasis) assume his elemental form exactly once per
day, no more or less."

Now, taking into account the previously mentioned denial of access to the etherial
plane, and dismissing my personal belief that access to the etherial plane is totally
unnecessary, is it not reasonable to assume that the change is instantaneous?
