The issue of Athaspace was also addressed (unofficially) in one
of the the _Tales_of_the_Eteranl_Wanderer_. They went to Athaspace, which
was a sphere *way* of the normal trade routes and hidden behind a *large*
sphere. I don't remember the specifics though. The only way to get
into Athaspace was to use a psionic version of /open portal/. The entire
sphere was mostly magic dead, so moving was a bit of a problem. The
sphere is totally accessable to anybody who knows it's location and can
get in and maneuver in a magic dead zone... (: The only thing that could
possibly do that is the proposed "psionic helm", which would be rare
enough to limit exposure.
