<description of Pilot Class removed>

	I like the idea of a class dedicated to piloting
ships. After all, it does stretch the bounds of believeability
(even for TSR) that every single ship out there has a classed
mage or priest at the helm. However, as for the class you
described...

	It seems you are trying to making some kind of
kindler, gentler, munchkin here. (No offense, just my
impression.) Let's see: fights as warrior, hit points of
cleric (with Fighter CON), spells as mage (but only from
two schools), advance as thief. Too many crossovers.
	What you seem to want is a Bard Kit. This
gives you your thief XP, already has limited mage abilities
thrown in, and already has some of the armor and weapon
restrictions you mentioned. Since the Bard is a Rogue, it
is now quite believable to have hordes of these things
running around the game. Plus, it also adds to the image
of the figher pilots as these hot shot mavericks that no
one really likes, but has to acknowledge their skill
anyway.
	Perhaps you could have two versions of the Pilot;
one based on a Thief, the other on a Bard. The thieves would
be the "grunts" of the Air Corps - they know enough magic to
channel it and fly a helm, but can't cast any spells at all
(or maybe one school). The Bards would be the officers -
more magical command, and also have more knowledge about
ships and tactics and such.

	Hmm... I may have to actually work this out and
submit it to the list to see what you all think. (No
promises though.)
