I think someone got carried away with the idea that a ship should look
like something related to the intended pilot. Another example if this is the
Aarakocran Corbina. Incredibly lame looking.

Two of the Vodonoi ships are truly ugly. Whose brilliant plan was it
to put heads on both ends of the Hunter-Killer? And the Werewolf, with
its paws reaching out in the fron and rear reminds of those stupid Mighty
Dog commercials.
The third ship, the Nightwolf, doesn't look too bad, though. The
wordst part are thos upturned claws. What's the deal.
BTW, the flying shoe comment had me chuckling for quite a while.

Just thought I would mention that Diesel did the floorplans for the
ships. The designs were by Jim Holloway.

While we are on the subject of lame ships, here is a list that I don't
include in my Known Space becasue they are lame looking...

Antler Ship
Bola Ship (and I like gnomes!)
Corbina
Vodonoi Hunter-Kiler and Werewolf
Iambus (the worst of the lot)
Klicklikak (a bug head? Give me a break!)
Swan Ship (way to make halflings look like sissies)
Uspo ( Looks like one of Batman's arch-nemeses built this)
Yawl ( A pedalling iron golem? i guess they were running out of ideas)
