Actually, I believe a foundry (real world) is used for smelting ore, and pouring metal into molds. I think. Whereas a forge is for assoted types of smithing. I've seen the dwarf engine refered to as both, but forge seems more common. As far as what determines speed: I always used SR = # of dwarves/100, but couldn't remember why. Ya made me have to go an look it up. >From the Concordance: Page 37: 2 tons required for every 50 dwarves involved, for every 100 dwarves, it give an SR of 1. Minumum size of ship 100 tons, max 700. Ain't looking it up grand? But if the original poster HAD, the list would have stayed dead. BTW, 14 tons is enough for maximum speed.
