Subject: Re: Iron Throne and the X Pit
I'm crossposting this to both lists to get all the feed back I can. I've
started a new campaign based in the Dalelands and Moonsea regions of the
Realms. The players are composed of a few newbies (starting at 3rd level
w/ zero xp so they feel they've earned all their xps but they don't get
slaughter at first), and veterans of two previous capaigns. Some of the
veteran characters are Harpers and some hate the Zhentarim for more
personal reasons. I've started with the Sword of the Dales Trilogy, and
am then expanding with the anti-Baneson adventure of Ruins of Zhentil Keep,
with a lot of side adventures. The background for all of this is Prince
of Lies and the destruction of Zhentil Keep. Besides having the Harpers
and the Zhentarim involved I want to toss the Iron Throne in as a third
party to confuse and irratate the players. Basically, I plan to have the
Throne turn out to be a front for the X Pit of the Spelljammer universe,
and have a new adventure thread of the Zhents creation of a Spelljammer
fleet based at the Citadel of the Raven, with all the dangers to trade
routes and villages of the Heartlands such a fleet would entail. The
veterans from one campaign have spelljammed before, even been to Bral,
those from the other discovered a unique spelljammer, the Lacanha, in the
ruins of Esh Alakar near the City of Gold. I've already tossed a party of
evil adventurers in as Throne agents competeing with the party for the
Sword of the Dales (in addition to the other protagonists in the Trilogy).
My question is, does anyone see any problems with this that I can't or
haven't? Anyone else used the X Pit in this way? To the TSR folks, is the
Iorn Throne going to be detailed elsewhere, rendering all of this
 Thanks to all in advance.
