First of all, a disclaimer. These are alternatives to the standard sphere
theory. I've always kinda felt confined in a sphere... (:

Ken made an interesting point about Planescape, which I didn't know
about. I don't have any of the material, so I rely on the old "infinite
primes" theory. I'll have to re-evaluate that aspect of it. Also, I'm fairly
familiar with the modern theories on the universe, and it doesn't have
"boundaries". It looks spherical as a 3D representation of 4D space.
Or something like that anyway. It says that if you travel in a straight line
for an infinite amount of time, you'll reach the same point you started from.

In our last episode, Thomas O. Magann Jr. said:
<In regard to interstellar travel being too slow>

>It would? Kindori can take families between stars. Elves and Dwarfs live long
>enough to visit other stars in a reasonable amount of lifespan. Quads of Thay
>travel at .22 the speed of light, making for shorter trips.

Right, but the times we're talking about are in *decades*. From here to
Alpha Centauri is 4 light years, which at .11C is about 40 years. I don't
remember if kindori even travel *that* fast. Even at .22C, that's almost
20 years.

>Teleporting between solar systems becomes possible. Especially using crystal
>balls or Magic Mirror spells for examining a new system before hand. Or
>having an Elf mage who's been there take you there.

Isn't that possible already? Can't you just teleport into another sphere?

>And Astral Travel would get someone there rapidly. Genies could take a short
>cut thru the inner planes.

Isn't Astral Travel why drow aren't supposed to be in space either? They
don't like light, and they travel through the astral plane.

I could be wrong though. I've only recently started reading the
actual material again. Years of college have worn away my ability to
think clearly... (:
