Hey, don't shoot! I merely was suggesting that hanging around veterans and
their personal libraries is one of the best ways of getting the information he
needs. If that means getting information from us, so be it.
NOW! I suggest that you start your compaign from a planet YOU made up, in a
crystal sphere YOU designed, so that the more knowledgeable members of your
party have two strikes before they get off the planet.
For starters, you don't need complex Ship vs. Ship fighting rules, because
your party are new to Wildspace. They would probably be more comfortable with a
good old fashioned boarding attack (I know I would). For getting them off-world,
my technique was to give the party a "magic throne" (minor helm) and a really
clapped out ship which disintegrated in mid-air. When the rubble cleared, a
mysterious blue-skinned giant offered them a brand spanking new galleon in
exchange for the ruin.
It took them 15 minutes discussing the giant's intentions.
As far as damage is concerned , just remember that
a) a ship has as many Hull Points as it's tonnage,
b) a Hull Point is roughly equal to 10 Hit Points, and
c) a hull point costs roughly 10 gold pieces to fix.
