Robert Myers wrote to me about how dwarves in his universe use their citadels as roving mining operations, my question is this, Do most A class earth worlds have an unfouled atmosphere? Can mining operations be carried out on a Void world? Does the atmosphere of a ship instantly bleed away if it lands/enters the gravity plane of a body with no atmosphere? Have a high powered wand of Detect Metals/Minerals on board the Citadel so it can find decent mining sites, without spending too much time at it. Another matter: Do banking institutions exist in your worlds? Can rulers get loans from interplanetary bankers, like the Arcane or Dowhar. Having access to magical communications and travel is great for verifying a letter of credit. I mean, if you take a ship as a prize and sell it, a 100,000 gp is a _lot_ to have to carry around! I mean, even if you have to split it with your sponsor, you still need to bring back the receipt. Given a day to solidify the deal, you can put a wizard marked receipt inside a wizard locked box, (or fire trapped, to destroy it if an unauthorized person tried to open it) and fraud becomes more expensive. If a Knock spell is cast to get rid of the Wizard Lock, a Fire Trap on an inner box could be set off. The diplomatic pouch for secure messages between spheres. How to design it. Lead lined to prevent scrying, teleporting contents out. Hard to open without destroying contents, but protects contents. Imagine the players being given the task of transporting a mysterious box which they are given strict instructions not to open but to deliver to someone who will give them certain signs. Perhaps the box could have a Magic Mouth recognition system whereby the sender puts a spell on it so the box notifies the courier when the recognition signal has been used. Just having fun...
