Player's Handbook, page 129:
"Spell components are expended as the spell is cast, unless
otherwise noted."
Armor spell, Player's Handbook, page 131:
"The material component is a piece of finely cured leather that
has been blessed by a priest." [end of spell description]

i.e., the leather _does_ disappear after casting.

You have to be careful with this.  Most adventuring mages won't have
any free time while on the road that they can use to memorize
Magic Mouth spells, and it's easy to fall into the trap of, "Oh, the
boat trip took two weeks with no encounters?  I'll have spent all
of that time making Magic Mouth Sticks."

More sensitive, how?  The only thing that changes with level is the
activation range.

Hmph.  If I were a 3rd level wizard using up my only 2nd level spell
slot each day on Magic Mouth, I'd have someone pay to make it worth
my while (and the risk of not having a Melf's Acid Arrow memorized
instead...).
