	Actually, from everything that I've seen about Illithid, they must have
brains to survive.  There always seems to be a reference to a kobold or two
that follow the Illithid around, and then mysteriously disappear one night, or
of a "servent" (human or non).  That could be why the Illithid are rarely found
alone away from their "farms".  Once a slave starts to become a liability (or
just looks tasty), they're the next meal.  The only suggestion I have is to
maybe allow them to survive on nonsentient brains, such as cows or something.
Maybe with such "low quality" brains, they need to feed every couple of days.

	I wonder if the article on "Sunset World" in an old issue of dragon
had anything to say about it.  I don't have mine here, but maybe someone could
look it up?
