While the topic makes for interesting discussion, I too would prohibit neogi
players. However, designing a systems of stats for them can make them more
vercitile as NPC's. This is especially so if a GM wants to use a single
neogi as a recurring villin. Giving this neogi stats, a class, and even
experience, makes it a more convincing character and therefore a more
convincing villin.

As for neogi PC's, well, unless you want to run a scenario or campaign were
*every* player character is a neogi - sort of a "reverse genre" thing -
don't try it.

Illithids are, IMO, easier to work with. As has been mentioned, they are
not as unballanced as they might appear. Class selection is sevearly
restricted, and they don't get very strong for quite a while. There is the
problem of keeping them fed. :) If an illithid doesn't get to drain someone
else's brain juices every ten days or so, it gets a little uptight. The
illithids themselves probably have some kind of food supplement that can
keep them going when "fresh meat" isn't available.

Any suggestions on how to deal with a hungry illithid when you don't have
extra brains laying around?

:)

Richard
