Kzinti and Kilrathi would certainly be stronger than humans, with a temper
to match. :) Another feline race that might work for Praax would be the
Aslan, from GDW's Traveler. Aslan a sort of like Kizinti, only they are
more human in build (though not as much as a tabaxi), and they aren't as
violent. Vincent, from the TV series "Beauty & the Beast" looks a lot like
an Aslan.

Perhaps he is...

The Panta certainly sound like they would be distantly related to the
tabaxi, in much the same way that dwarves are distantly related to gnomes.
As with the various demi- humans and humanoids, it's entirely possible that
there are several "cat races" running about the known spheres. In such a
set-up, a race like the Kizinti would be distantly related to the tabaxi, as
would the Panta, Aslan, Kilrathi, and others. They would all be members of
a large superfamily of races. These darn cats are everywhere. :)

Recently, on a BBS, I plucked a set of files describing a race called the
Leoman, or Lion-Men. These files gave descriptions of several potential
splinter races for the Leoman. I'm not sure if I can post their stuff here
because there are some restrictions; I'll have to double check. At any
rate, there's another cat-race that may have prowled into space.
