Subject: Re: lasers
Hi all,
Since this subject seems to have started a thread, I might as well
add my 2 cp in. First I think that this idea could be conceived - how
many ants are fried each day in experiments with glass and sunlight? All
that would be needed would be enough curiosity and daring (did someone
say gnome? :)

Current lasers, need a special lasing material, to help concentrate
the light. The newest materials are manufactured. If we wish to transpose
this, the barrel of the laser would have to be made of either a
naturally-occurring (extremely rare) mineral, or be magically produced.
As for the spell being used, I agree that the spell shouldn't be
continual light, but something stronger. In Greyhawk, priests of Pholtus
(of the blinding light) get a sunbolt spell (or something like this),
which would be useful.
