In a previous message, BriBri Superuser said... > But I was wondering how did the rest of you introduce it to _your_ > worlds? I introduced spelljammers using an NPC. The PCs knew him as a trader and able to get many interesting and _most_ unusual items. At one point, one of the PCs was bragging that she could fly, and the NPC, Gadfly, couldn't. To flirt with her (she had a 23 comliness), the NPC mentioned that his ship (which was in the harbor) could fly too. No one believed him, and he wasn't willing to take off while near land. Eventually, they encountered him again while an assassination attempt was being made on him. The PCs saved him, and Gadfly told them what had happened: he had been double crossed by some traders, his ship and cargo destroyed, and as long as they lived they would try to kill him. He asked the PCs for help hunting them down, and they said yes. He then acquired a spelljammer and taught them the ways of space (and eventually destroyed those who had double-crossed him). As to the campaign world itself, spelljammers have been around a long time; much longer than on most worlds, but due to their high cost and some superstitions surrounding them, they haven't been put into wide use. -- ------------------------------------------------+------------------------- "You're waking from a very long dream, | Joe Delisle your eyes are focused on the fan on the ceiling,| jd@?????.net you realize you're a part of the machine. | quote: "Terminal City", Just a part of the machine." | Machines of Loving Grace
