That would work great in normal space, but the flow is
dominated by rivers and currents.  "You can't get there
from here." would be literally true in a few cases.
Thus, it might take longer to get to a nearby sphere
than to traverse a fast current to a distant sphere.

This can make wrong turns very interesting.
