	I always figured that the non-magical engines burned coal or
oil. I thought I remembered that they did need re-fueling after a
while.

	Also, when I was thinking about how a helm worked, I realized
the process is almost identical to charging a Techno-Wizardry item in
Rifts. A person with magical power is in physical contact with the
helm, dumps all of his/her magical energy in the helm, "charging it",
and the helm functions until the charge runs down. (Yes, I realize
that the mage doesn't use all of his/her energy at once, but the idea
is roughly the same.) Perhaps the Arcane are an offshoot of the
Gene-Splicers... <evil grin>
