Subject: Re: Favorite SJ Encounter
Sean's beholder adventure reminded me of my long-dead SJ campaign
and my favorite (supposedly) random encounter:

TINKER GNOMES!

Eric Shadowalker, fearless leader of the Fellowship of the Triad,
has more than once ordered his ship to flee an approaching gnomish ship.
His arrogant voice quavered with abject fear, and the thief/mage with
miraculous dexterity stumbled several times in his panic-stricken dash to
the helm room.
The few times I did this were extremely gratifying. Eric's reaction
was all because of one session's introduction to a crew of gnomish
submariners who's underwater craft had malfunctioned and attacked the
PCs' sailing vessel. What fun!
