Richard "Bard of Wildspace" Pugh said - [Much stuff about elven Armadas] Well, I don't have Space Lairs or Crystal Spheres, so I cannot comment on the validity of the statistics there. As for an explanation why the Armada can move if it is over 100 tons, perhaps the wings (i.e., the organic growths of the plant do-dad), once they reach a certain size, either shunt away some of the mass, or displace less than the normal amount of matter. This effect could also effect objects attached to it, so in effect the Flitters there are only taking up about 1/2 to 1/3 the tonnage they normally do. This would allow the Armada, while technically being over the 100-ton limit for Major Helms, to exist in a state that is actually only 100 tons (like how the Hummingbird ship's wings vibrate so fast that the mass is continually displaced, resulting in a lower effective mass, giving it a better MC - a neat trick, if you ask me). Or, hey, the arcane may just have special 150-ton helms that they only sell to the elves (under some sort of high-price agreement). This would be another reason to keep the Armadas out of the hands of non-elves ... it would let out their big secret. -- Sean K Reynolds a.k.a.
