Phantom's note about Uranus was interesting, but a couple of thoughts. 1--The theory has been extended by some to include all the gas giants, so you've all of sudden got diamonds everywhere. Admittedly, Uranus has less atmosphere to wade through than Jupiter (that reminds me, Arthur C. Clarke used the theory in 2010 and 2061), so it's probably the most logical place to start. Maybe you can put different gems under each planet. There's probably an astrological correspondence somewhere we can use. 2--Normal airworlds don't have pressure increases as you descend (Lorebook, p 62), somebody's gotta make some (ick) rules for it. I'm not volunteering... Wait, two more thoughts.... 3--If I were the Arcane, I wouldn't want anybody dumping a planet's worth of diamonds on the interplanetary market. Anybody with that much buying power would be a nuisance (think of the inflation), but gnomes? Think of all the smoke powder they could buy? Just a tip for conspiracy-minded DMs. 4--Should Terraspace really include anything past Saturn? It doesn't seem fair to the Middle Ages to use planets that "didn't exist" then.... -- Michael Bauser, Dept Anthro, Kent State U, PO Box 5190, Kent 44242, USA mbauser@??????.????.edu | mbauser@??????.bitnet | Tel: +1 216 672 7380
